Forest Adventures is a drop off program for ages 4-12. We meet every Tuesday 4/28-6/2 3:30-5:30.
Our program serves as an afterschool program as well as an outdoor program for homeschool children.
We meet in the dirt parking lot at Leland Wild Foundation on the corner of Miller St and Leland Rd. and hike in together (it’s a .2 mi hike in). Children have the freedom to play and self direct their own experience. Often they build with large loose parts (pallet boards, bricks, branches..etc). Staff observe children’s interests that emerge and plan according to their curiosities. Often times children use their engineering skills to create pulley systems, build forts and imaginary worlds. Plant identification and frog hunting is always a popular activity as well.
Children learn to communicate and cooperate with one another through play. They build mental and physical strength being in the forest! This is a great outlet after learning in a classroom or any child who is looking to play with other kids!
